KEYSTONE IT ADDS MEDIPROCITY TO CLIENT OFFERINGS
Network Solution Safeguards Patient Health Information, Improves Physician Communications
St. Louis, MO, March 14, 2014 - Keystone IT today announced it is partnering with Mediprocity to bring end-to-end Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant communications to its healthcare clients. Mediprocity is a fully encrypted platform allowing secure transfer of patient information between physicians, healthcare providers and business associates on the web and mobile devices. The communications tool is offered free of charge to physicians and also two staff members for those that sign up by May 2014. Eric Humes, Chief Executive Officer of Keystone IT, says healthcare organizations cannot afford to risk potential data breaches, with stiff government penalties already being imposed.
“While patient privacy regulations have been part of medical practice for more than a decade, the HIPAA Final Rule of September 2013 enforces significant fines for violations due to reasonable cause and willful neglect alike,” says Humes. “We are so pleased to integrate the Mediprocity solution with our compliance support services in not only giving providers peace of mind, but improved communications regarding their patients.”
Mediprocity utilizes cloud and encryption technology to enable physicians to collaborate, connect and refer patients in a safe environment. The system includes a mobile app that works like texting on a smartphone or other mobile device, with audible alerts, priority referrals and other features, and can also be used on a desktop or laptop computer. Physicians are assured that messages and attachments are delivered securely in real time, enhancing workflow and patient continuity of care. More than 1,000 users have signed on to the Mediprocity platform to date.
“Delays in communication no longer represent a delay in care,” says Dr. Aaron Salyapongse, Director of Hip and Knee Surgery at Valley Care Hospital in San Francisco, CA. “Our pilot study with Mediprocity showed an average response time from doctors of one to two minutes, compared to 28 minutes when they used pagers and phones. Having fast, secure text messaging is critical for how my team and I relay doctors’ orders and changes in patient status, get nursing updates and therapy reports and communicate other important information.”
Humes says that Keystone IT will assist clients in implementing Mediprocity, training staff and associates and maximizing system benefits. Additionally, ongoing support will be provided through the Keystone IT Help Desk. More information on Keystone client offerings can be found on the company’s website.
